We are proud of this Holiday Options discovery. A delightful, family-run and unpretentious boutique-style guesthouse by the ocean in the small town of Sal Rei. Seven very comfortable rooms are set around a courtyard with a bar and a small mature garden with tropical plants, fruit trees and an aviary.

The owners are a charismatic Belgian husband (Gerald) and a Cape Verdean wife (Orquidea) who speak English and you are assured of warm hospitality. Gerald is a keen fisherman and arranges regular fishing trips, as well as snorkelling, whale and dolphin watching (seasonal and usually March-April) and PADI diving. There are restaurants and some bars in the town and the Estoril beach is within a 10 minutes walk. Casa Orquidea opened in early 2008.

Rooms & Views

5 standard rooms (2 twins and 3 doubles) are with shower, fridge, fan, flat screen TV and a large verandah with at least a side sea view and furnished with sunbeds and a hammock.

2 double superior rooms are larger with full ocean view and are on the top floor.
Air-conditioning is available on request locally.
