| Saturday Day 1 |
Arrive Catania where you are met and transferred to Hotel Villa Sonia for 7 nights on a Bon Appetit mixed board basis |
| Sunday Day 2 |
Morning at leisure. You are collected at 15.00 for this unusual excursion along the coastline before turning inland towards the slopes of Mount Etna, following a route rich with views of the volcano. Passing among hazelnut and pistachio trees and several vineyards you reach a renowned wine cellar 2400 feet above sea level to sample various wines of the region. Late in the afternoon you arrive at the medieval village of Castiglione di Sicilia where a typical Sicilian dinner is provided with wine and accompanied by folk music. You return to the hotel at around 23.00. |
| Monday Day 3 |
Morning departure for Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. During the ascent different kinds of vegetation are apparent; flowers, citrus groves, vineyards, fruit trees, chestnut and beech woods spread right up to near the summit. Then it is almost desert-like, where the lava is sometimes overgrown by juniper bushes and astragalus. After a visit to the extinct Silvestri Crater (over 2000m) you descend and return to the Villa Sonia, arriving back around 14.00

| Tuesday Day 4 |
Morning at leisure. At 14.30 you are collected from the hotel for the Godfather Tour. This delightful landscape excursion takes you for a walking tour of the peaceful streets and churches of Savoca and Forza D’Agro, both used in the shooting of the film ‘The Godfather’. Our first stop is Savoca for a visit to the fascinating catacombs of the Cappuccini Convent and the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli. Continue to Forza d’Agro, a charming medieval village overlooking the coastline towards Messina and the Straits. Free time at your disposal before the transfer back to Villa Sonia for dinner. |
| Wednesday Day 5 |
Morning at leisure. At 16.00 you are collected from Villa Sonia. In good company in a wonderful setting, and with help from a little wine and a Sicilian Mamma and family, you help prepare a typical Sicilian meal. Dinner with wine included is eaten among the villagers in the shade of olive trees. Transfer back to Villa Sonia. |
| Thursday Day 6 |
You are collected at 08.30 for the Unknown Sicily tour and driven into the Peloritani Mountains passing through typical villages. You experience typical pastoral life and taste some local specialities and wine in Argimosoco. Continue to the Sicilian ‘Stone Age Rocks’, reaching a height of over four thousand feet, from where you should have spectacular views of Mount Etna, The Aeolian Islands and the Pelirotani Woods. Continue to Montalbano with its medieval and narrow streets and visit the famous castle. Arrive back at Villa Sonia by late afternoon. Dinner at Villa Sonia. |
| Friday Day 7 |
At leisure until your transfer for a farewell dinner at Ristorante Anfora in Taormina |
| Saturday Day 8 |
Transfer to the airport or continue your holiday in Sicily. |
