The excursions described below are according to 2004 prices and departure days which may differ in 2005. Meals and entrance fees are not included in the price unless specifically stated. The operation of excursions may depend on weather and road/sea conditions and the number of clients wishing to participate.
Prices indicated are in UK£ but bookings should be made locally through our representatives and should normally be payable in local currency.
Sunday, Friday Half Day Mount Etna @ £19 per person
Depart at 08.00hrs for Mount Etna where you are taken to the 2000 metres mark to visit the extinct Silvestri Craters. Arrival back in your hotel will be at approximately 13.30hrs.
Sunday Full Day Mini Cruise to the Aeolian Islands @ £50 per person.
Depart at 09.00hrs for the port of Milazzo and the 12.00 hydrofoil or ferry to the island of Panarea where you stay for approximately 2 hours. Continue by hydrofoil or ferry to Stromboli arriving before sunset. Tour of the island and the opportunity to view the nightly activity of eruptions and lava flows. Return by sea to Milazzo at approximately 22.30hrs and transfer back to your hotel.
Price includes pasta dinner with bread and local wine.
Sunday, Thursday Etna Sunset @ £45 per person
Departure at 15.00hrs. Arrive at the 3000 metres mark to enjoy the sunset over Mount Etna.
Late evening return to your hotel.
Monday Sicilian Wine Evening @ £24.50 per person
Depart at 15.00hrs and drive via typical Sicilian villages in the Alcantara Valley including the little medieval village of Castiglione di Sicilia. Take the road over the lava flows to a renowned wine cellar at the foot of Mt Etna. There will be a free tasting of Etna wines and a spakling wine. Continue on to a typical farmhouse and after a short visit enjoy a light supper including Sicilian wine and mineral water.
Tuesday Full Day Aeolian Islands of Lipari and Vulcano @ £36 per person
Depart at 06.30 for the port of Milazzo and continue by boat to Lipari, a pretty island surrounded by magnificent rocks of volcanic origin.
Free time on the island until 12.00 when you re-board for a tour around the coastline and continue to the neighbouring island of Vulcano. Time to visit the Crater, hot springs and bubbling mud pools before re-boarding to see some of the volcanic activity from the sea. Cruise back to Milazzo and transfer to your hotel.
Wednesday Full Day Syracuse @ £26.50 per person
Departure at 07.30. Syracuse is a beautiful city with remarkable Roman and Greek remains including an archaeological park with its temples and amphitheatre. Time also to explore beautiful "modern" Syracuse before arrival back at your hotel at 18.00hrs.
Wednesday Full Day " Unknown Sicily " @ £31 per person
Departure at 09.00hrs towards the Peloritani Mountains passing through little-known villages off the normal tourist track. There will be stunning views of Mount Etna, the Aeolian Islands and Capo Milazzo before going on to the medieval towns of Montalbano and Randazzo. Arrival back at your hotel late afternoon.
Full Day Savoca / Forza d'Agro
Morning departure for Savoca and a visit of the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli and the Capuchin Convent. In the underground crypt approximately 12 mummies are preserved. Walk to the central square. After viewing the square continue on to Forza d'Agro, a picturesque village, which still retains its medieval character and offers a spectacular view of Messina, Calabria and Taormina. Walk to the castle. |
